PXG 0311 XP Gen5 Irons Review.

Welcome to my review of the PXG 0311 XP Gen5 Irons.

Parson Xtreme Golf-PXG recently released a bunch of high-performing clubs among which are the high-performing 0311 XP Gen5 irons.

In this review, our correspondent, Alberts Juan, took a looking at the Club to see how it performs, touching on key features and technologies deployed into the 0311 XP Gen5 irons.

In the end, this should help you decide if the 0311 XP Gen5 Irons can help you play better golf.

PXG 0311 XP Gen5 Irons Review – Introduction.

The 0311 XP Gen5 iron is one of the 3 Gen5 irons released by PXG for 2022 and is simply the most forgiving iron in the category.

It is obviously a game improvement iron and is engineered to deliver insane performance, with off-center forgiveness and significant offset to help reduce slices for those who struggle with it.

This Club can serve as a benchmark on which other game improvement irons can be measured in terms of overall performance, according to PXG.

It is designed for players looking for maximum forgiveness and more distance.

PXG 0311 XP Gen5 Irons Review – Basic Features/Technologies.

The 0311 XP Gen5 Irons wear identical features and technologies as the Gen4 irons but here, these features are better deployed to deliver more efficiently to get the required result for the players.

Talking about features and tech in this new line of irons from PXG golf, here are some key techs to note.

Precision weighting technology – This involves the precision positioning of 5 tungsten heel/toe weights and one large weight near the Center of Gravity(CG) on the back of the Clubhead. This helps players achieve optimal swing weight.

XCOR2 Technology – According to PXG, after years of research, they are able to develop the XCOR2 technology, which is a revolutionary polymer Core material, extremely light, and is designed especially for the Gen5 to help reduce the mass of the core. This helps the engineers at PXG to position weight low in the perimeter of the back of the Clubhead for a higher MOI.

A higher MOI leads to more forgiveness.

The ultra-thin face technology combined with XCOR2 enhances the C.O.R and creates a face deflection for more ball speed across the face.

Power Channel Technology – The power channel Technology is a U-Shaped corridor that is built into the internal surface of the Clubhead to increase deflection and bend in the top sector. This face movement transfers energy for increased launch angle, trajectory, and ball speed.

5X Forged – Each iron in this set is fives-times forged from 8620 soft carbon steel to create a tight grain structure that increased its strength and prolongs the life of the grooves, as well as enhances, feel, and appearance.

Milled Back Surface – This is a high-precision process that helps reduce the wall thickness, much more than what can be achieved by forging alone. This is to create a body design that promotes high performance while also enhancing the aesthetic.

Ultra-Thine Face – This is not new as the PXG brand from inception is known for having the thinnest face of any golf club. The GEN5 XP irons are one that offers PXGs the highest C.O.R performing irons so far.

Xtreme Dark – The Xp GEN5 irons, and indeed the entire Irons in the GEN5 range are crafted using an advanced process called Diamond-like-Carbon Coating. This process creates a hard, graphite-like carbon-based coating that extends to a reasonable extent, extending the life of all the Black Label irons and wedges.

Robotic Precision Technology – All the Irons in the Gen5 lineup undergo a precision robotic polishing and welding process that helps PXG maintain a precise manufacturing process to maintain a consistent sole and face perimeter geometry with every club.

Look.

The XP GEN5 irons are beautifully crafted with an excellent finish with a black aesthetic on the toe and heel and a silver scroll, this obviously is to help move more weight to the heel and toes to create a higher MOI for more forgiveness.

Performance.

The PXG 0311 XP Gen5 irons deliver an incredible level of performance irons with exceptional speeds and forgiveness.

These irons are not merely beautifully crafted, they are designed with modern technology, new patented core material, breakthrough head design, weighting technology, and significant offset – these irons were made to deliver extreme performance.

Top of all, the GEN5 XP irons have got great sound and feel, and I feel it’s a little better than what’s obtained in the Gen4 irons.

The XP in this iron actually means Extreme Performance, and so, you expect the 0311 XP GEN5 irons to live upto its name.

Forgiveness.

Forgiveness is something most average golfers lookup in a club before committing their funds and PXG understands this, as the 0311 XP GEN5 irons are designed to deliver maximum forgiveness with its extra-wide sole, a thin top line, and an extended sweets pot area for optimal performance on off-center hits.

By and large, the 0311 XP GEN5 irons are the most forgiving irons in the PXG GEN5 lineup.

Speeds & Distance.

The Gen4 range of irons was incredibly fantastic with a blazing speed and distance, but as PXG would say, they can only bring a new Club when they have created something different, and that’s what is obtained on the new XP GEN5 irons.

It is primarily focused on speed and distance with increased forgiveness.

These irons can actually be played by a vast majority of golfers especially any golfer who wants maximum forgiveness and a confidence-inspiring head shape, this is according to PXG.

players with a double-digit handicap, as well as recreational golfers fit this category of people who would want to play these irons.

The set of people who, probably wouldn’t want a more forgiving Club is the highly experienced players who want total control of their shot shape.

Where To Buy The PXG 0311 XP Gen5 Irons?

The first place most people will probably look when trying to buy this Club would be in the PXG Store, which is great.

However, apart from PXG Store, there are other top vendors selling these irons.

For convenience sake, my #1 and best-recommended place is the PXG Store on Amazon.com.

Conclusion.

Conclusively, the PXG GEN5 Irons come in 3 different lineups, the 0311 T Gen5, the 0311 P Gen5, and the 0311 XP Gen5 irons. Among all, the 0311 XP Gen5 reviewed in this post is the largest and most forgiving of all.
